We got featured in NetBeans Podcast #46

Does anyone heard NetBeans Podcast this time?
It was #46, remember?

No, well you should, there are 80+ contributors to this documentation project, everyone must listen this atleast once!

Why?

James Branam, NetBeans Community Docs Manager was recently interviewed by Llyod for NetBeans Podcast Episode #46!

"[..] the NetBeans World Tour (starting October 1!), James informs us about the NetBeans Community Docs Program, and [..]" - Geertjan

Here is the excerpt from the shownotes of the podcast-
18:15 James tells us about the NetBeans Community Docs Program:
Guys what are you waiting plug-in your headphones, and listen to the exclusive interview.

James, thank you so much!

Administrando Freehg desde NetBeans

Aristides contributed yet another documentation in Spanish!

This time he focused on managing freeHg with NetBeans, more specifically 6.1 release!
What is this freeHg?
Mercurial [Hg for short] is a Distributed Version Control System. Instead of using a single repository per project, each developer can have their own repository.

freeHg.org makes it quick and easy to share your repositories.

Firstly, lets take a look at the following screenshot, which shows freeHg user interface...

Note
These screenshots just give you an overview of whats being discussed in the documentation. You are required to visit and read the documentation for more details.

Following screenshot shows what to expect at the end of tutorial-
Its time to read the documentation, do give it a read!

Aristides, thanks for contributing!

DT Docs- July 2007

Today,

We would see contributions done by NetBeans Dream Team Members during the month of July, 2007!

What about April-June, 2007?
Guys, we didn't have any contributions during that period, our program was progressing slowly, yet steadily, and in July, we got another set of contributions by such members.

Not, to forget...
The first ever contribution was made by NetBeans Dream Team Member.

Trivia
This month, our program had 4 contributions, surprisingly 3 coming from one member, and he's one of the members of NetBeans Dream Team!

Standalone Module Branding Tips

Tonny's 2nd contribution for the week August 18-24, 2008 was also done under category Tips and Tricks.

Its another adaption of his blog entry, he does blog quality material about NetBeans Platform, thats the reason, why his blog featured on Platform website.

As you can see in the image to the left, it features Tonny Kohar as an Expert of Tips and Tricks for NetBeans Platform.

Also, you can see names like Sandip, Toni, Jesse and authors of RCP Book, along with Tonny Kohar.

So, he's indeed a great contributor.

Well, after all this one can now have a look at another Tips and Tricks by him. I am reposting it here for your convenience...

Standalone Module Branding Tips

If you build a “standalone” module for your Netbeans RCP based application, during development you will notice that it will display the original Netbeans IDE/RCP splash screen rather than your branded application splash screen.

To enable your own branded splash during development you can add the following on the module project properties

Note: It is tested on Netbeans 6.1 IDE

# replace the token with your own branding token
branding.token=your-branding-name eg: sketsa
branding.dir=none

Tonny, thanks again!

It also have an entry on the Plugins List. However, please note this may be somekind of HACK. The proper localization should be following Netbeans Localization Project.

Thats the header for the contribution he did, and here's the snapshot of Plugin Manager.

Fig 1. This is tested on Netbeans 6.1, and use Alkitab Bible Study as example.

Welcome Community Docs Evangelists

Hi all,

Another week with a lot of goings on in the NetBeans Community Docs program. I'd like to take the time to welcome the programs evangelists: Aristides Villarreal bravo and Kristian Rink. I can think of no better candidates for the job of evangelist.

Both Kristian and Aristides have been very active in the NetBeans Community and have supported the NB Community Docs program since its inception. Both are also members of the distinguished NetBeans Dream Team.

The program is certain to benefit from their increased participation. I'm looking forward to working with them, and I have to say that with Varun, Amit, Kristian, and Aristides on board, we have one hell of a team.
