About

This is the project blog of Multilingual NetBeans Community Docs Program- a community documentation project which has grown in leaps-and-bounds since it was launched in March, 2007. We have had high quality contributions and more enthusiastic community members.

We have stopped publishing weekly newsletters, however we started off publishing monthly one's instead. Scroll down for latest posts on this blog!

NetBeans Community Docs is rocking at Sun Tech Days, Hyderabad, India

Hello all!

Even before the NetBeans Day (to be held on 29th February), the
NetBeans Community Docs has been pretty well represented there by me
and well received, too :-), thanks to the long list of recent
successful ventures!

I met Rouman Strobl, had a talk with him at the NetBeans Booth and
kept lingering around there and answered a few curious souls too!

I also met Kunal, Anil and Santaram who were NetBeans Contributors in the Code For Freedom!

Then I did a very very short presentation on NetBeans Community Docs
as part of the session called "Open Source: Open Exchange". The
presentation is available here . I also met David Lindt there. We had a great talk there and will continue talking via emails.

Also, there was a couple of general queries about the NetBeans
Community Docs, like:

1. Who judges the quality of the docs?
2. Any particular focus we have.

It was pretty cool to introduce myself as the NetBeans Community Docs
Coordinator and subsequently, receive the adulation!

A Great experience!

NetBeans Innovators Grant

Hi everybody,

Sun Microsystems has put together a very interesting competition. For NB Community Docs contributors, this is an excellent opportunity to show the world what you can do (or what you've done). There are a lot of contributions that, with a little tweaking, would make fantastic submissions to the competition.

Any question? Just go to to the Innovators Grant Webpage to check it out.

Also, we've started archiving contributions on the wiki. If you have a contribution that has been there for a while, don't be surprised if it isn't listed in the Contributions table. It hasn't disappeared into space; it has been relocated to another wiki, which is linked from the main Community Docs wiki. You'll also be able to find it on netbeans, org, or more precisely at http://www.netbeans.org/community/commdocs.html

See you soon!

The Latest buzz from the Community Docs is here!

Hi all,

This is Amit. I am the NetBeans Community Docs coordinator.

My day job now is being a final-year undergrad student in Computer Science from India. My other important tasks involve NetBeans Community Docs, Technical Writing, Book Review, and Researchy stuffs.

Linux and Open-Source interests me. The Linux kernel is an all time favorite thing which I really wish I could spend time on. Developing plug-in modules for NetBeans is another current favorite.

Welcome to the New NetBeans Community Docs Blog

Hi all,
Well, this is it. Amit and I have decided to start blogging together on all matters concerning NetBeans Community Docs. Thanks, Amit, for setting this up.

Since this is my first blog entry, I'll say a few things about myself. I'm from the U.S., originally from Indiana, but I went to university in Oregon (Oregon State University). I've been employeed at Sun Microsystems since November 2005, and I've been the Community Docs Manager since Marrh 1, 2007.

That should be enough to get thing started. Now, I hope that Amit will add a few words about himself.

See you soon!
